Vladislav Ruchka, Andriy Yaroshinsky, and Dmytro Ihnatenko have been sentenced to up to 24 years in prison by Russian proxies in Donetsk.
Two have been killed and 16 have been injured in Dnipro amid a Russian drone attack late on April 16. There are fires throughout the city.
"I am continuing for one year the national emergency with respect to the Russian Federation and the emergency authority relating to the regulation of the anchorage and movement of Russian-affiliated vessels to United States ports," a U.S. Federal Register document says.
"That war is a shame. Millions of people are dead that should be alive. Cities are being destroyed all over Ukraine," U.S. President Donald Trump said.
"On April 13, 2025, as a result of a missile strike by Russia, our theater family suffered a pain that words cannot describe. Inflicted wounds killed our colleague, artist of the orchestra theater — Olena Kohut," the Sumy National Theater said.
"Putin's ultimate goal is to revive the Russian Empire and reclaim territories currently under NATO protection... Considering all of this, I believe it could escalate into a world war," President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Two Romanian diplomats were ordered to leave Russia on April 9 in response to the expulsion of Russian diplomats from Romania in March.
"There are a lot of attempts there, daily. They (Russia) are bearing losses... There will be more attempts in the Kharkiv and Sumy directions," President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
"I believe that certain time limits will provide opportunities to put pressure on Russia. If you have a ceasefire for an unclear period — it is a frozen conflict," President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Russia did not have tariffs imposed "because we’re not doing business, essentially, with Russia, because they’re at war," Trump told reporters on April 7.
"They hit a peaceful residential area. They hit children and civilians with ballistics with cluster bombs," Oleksandr Vilkul, the head of Kryvyi Rih's military administration, said on April 7.

President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed new ambassadors to seven countries on April 7. The appointments include Andriy Kostin, Ukraine's former Prosecutor General, who resigned in October 2024 amid a major corruption scandal.
Stripping Hungary of its voting power in the EU "is getting closer and closer," Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said on April 5.
A round of explosions occurred in Kyiv around 5:00 a.m. local time on April 6, according to a Kyiv Independent journalist on the ground. Three have been injured, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on April 6.
The Base, a neo-Nazi terrorist group with links to Russia is offering locals payment to carry out terrorist attacks in cities across Ukraine, the Guardian reported.
"It's a genuine economic partnership... we don't make any money unless they make money, and you know who doesn't like that? People with their hand in the till," U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent claimed in an interview released on April 4.

Trump may abruptly decide he wants to speak to Putin, but he has been advised against calling the Russian leader until Moscow communicates they agree to a full ceasefire in Ukraine, NBC News reported on April 3, citing administration officials.
"This is part of the hybrid war that Russia is waging against democratic countries and the values we share. It is documented that Russia orchestrated over 100 attempts at sabotage around Europe in the past year," Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan said on April 3.
"The dominating view in the United States Senate is that Russia is the aggressor, and that this horrific war and Putin’s aggression must end now and be deterred in the future," the press release on April 1 said.

Ukraine will be seeking for the U.S. to commit to more U.S. investment and clarify how a reconstruction fund would operate, a person familiar with the matter said.
"We expect a response – a serious one. We are working toward a response. A strong response is urgently needed – above all from the U.S., from Europe, from everyone in the world who has placed their bets on diplomacy. Russia must be forced into peace," President Volodymyr Zelensky said on March 29.
A Russian drone attack killed two people and injured at least 25 late on March 29, Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported. Five children are among the wounded.
"Russia has committed genocide, Russia continues to commit genocide on an industrial scale, every day, every single minute," Deputy Foreign Minister Mariana Betsa said in an interview with The Sun released on March 29.
"I’ve never been afraid, it’s just Putin wants war - what can a man who wants war say at peace talks?" President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
"I can't imagine any situation in which Germany would not be participating in whatever would be the result of negotiations of a ceasefire or even a peace," German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said on March 27.
"If he himself (Zelensky) is illegitimate, then all the others are too," Putin claimed in an address on March 27.
